Kazakh Companies Gain Access to Eastern European Markets via Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange

A growing number of companies from Kazakhstan are gaining access to Eastern European markets through accreditation on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE). According to Ulysmedia.kz, 55 companies from Kazakhstan were accredited to participate in BUCE trading in 2023, with additional firms joining in 2024.

The BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe, facilitating the trade of metals, timber, agricultural products, and a wide range of industrial and consumer goods. In total, 1086 foreign companies from 34 countries were accredited to trade on the BUCE in 2023.

The top five countries represented among non-resident participants are Russia (658 companies), China (100), Uzbekistan (75), Kazakhstan (55), and Azerbaijan (52). An additional 20 companies from abroad have joined the exchange this year.

The BUCE attributes the increase in non-resident participation to measures designed to reduce barriers to entry into the Belarusian market. These include a simplified accreditation process for foreign importers, free training courses, reduced exchange fees, and the option to trade independently or with the assistance of exchange brokers.

The BUCE plays a key role in supporting Belarusian businesses in exporting their products and assisting foreign companies in accessing the Belarusian market.
