Kazakhstan Exports Wheat Flour to the United States via the Trans-Caspian Route

Kazakhstan continues to expand the geography of its agricultural exports, reaching new distant markets. In March 2026, a shipment of wheat flour was exported from Kostanay to New York using the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor).

The shipment was carried out in a multimodal container format. The route passed through the port of Aktau, across the Caspian Sea to the port of Alat (Azerbaijan), then through Georgia and Turkey to the Mediterranean Sea, and далее across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States.

The total transit time was approximately 58 days, with a shipment volume of 24 tons.

According to industry participants, this case demonstrates the practical viability of the Middle Corridor for supplying Kazakh products to distant markets and highlights the growing potential for export diversification.

The development of alternative logistics routes, including the Trans-Caspian corridor, allows Kazakhstan to reduce dependence on traditional transport routes and strengthen its position in global markets.
